Manufacturing
Wood material
Close-grained, endurable northern timber
The raw material that we use is Finnish pine or spruce. Trees in the North grow slowly, making the wood close-grained and densely structured. All of our board items meet at least the criteria for strength class C24. This means that the material is extremely durable, and it is also a beautiful solution for visible surfaces.
Our timber comes from sustainably managed, PEFC-certified forests within 80 kilometres of our factory. Thanks to our short logistics chain, our CLT only leaves a small carbon footprint. Our sawn timber comes from the massive sawmill of Kuhmo Oy, and it is further processed at the Crosslam factory.
From sawn timber into CLT panels
Over the years, we have perfected our manufacturing process
The first step in the production process is to finger-joint the sawn timber into correctly sized panels. The panels are planed, followed by a stacking process where panel-sized crossing layers are glued on top of each other. All of the glued layers are pressed into a cross-laminated CLT panel.
Processing CLT panels
Meticulous work according to plans
The laminated panel is meticulously customised to desired sizes with a CNC machine. In other words, each laminated CLT panel can be used to manufacture several wood elements. The CNC machine processes the elements accurately according to the designs. Good designs can reduce material losses and, therefore, cut the costs of construction.
Quality assurance
Each CLT element undergoes quality checks
After the CNC process is completed, the quality of each CLT element is checked according to the guidelines included in the certification system established by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. We always deliver first-class CLT materials to our customers.
Logistics
Get your products when and where you need them
CLT panels ordered by our customers are prepared for transport and delivered to the construction site on the agree upon date. The transports are handled, as per agreement, either by our partner Peura-Trans or a logistics company of the customer’s choosing.
